Gecko talisman

From Ashenzari's Archive
(Redirected from Hypnogecko Form)
Trunk-only: This article pertains to a feature of Crawl which is being tested. It will likely change before the next release, and may even be removed entirely.
The dried remains of a tail shed under duress. Partially transforms the user into a hynogecko, a reptile with a remarkable degree of metachrosis.

Their skin naturally changes colour to blend in with their surroundings, making them stealthy, and when badly injured, they reflexively shed their own tail and make it scintillate with bright colours as a decoy - allowing them to either flee or even strike at their distracted predators from a blind spot.

A gecko talisman is a talisman that changes you into a hypnogecko form.

Useful Info

When Put on, a gecko talisman turns you into a Hypnogecko Form, which lasts until you end the form. Entering a form takes 4 turns and exiting it takes 5.

Hypnogecko Form has a minimum Shapeshifting skill of 0, and the maximum skill is 7.

Skill boosts tail HP & distraction stab chance. Stalkers start with a gecko talisman on.

Hypnogecko Form has the following effects:

Traits

  • It increases your health regeneration by 0.2
  • Stealth+
  • Grants +5-15% distraction stab chance
  • When injured below 40% max health, you move back and shed a tail ally that forces enemies to attack it, leaving them open to distraction stabs. Tails regrow with exploration, not time.

Strategy

For the Stalker background, this form provides basic tools for the early game. As primarily a defensive form, you can feel a bit more confident going for early stabs.

When fights go the wrong way, your tail separates and provides a "taunt" to all enemies, providing you the opportunity to either flee or end the fight quickly with distraction stabs. Make sure you are extra careful while tail-less, and focus on exploration over fighting until it regrows
