Centipede bauble

An oversized insect with dagger-sharp forcipules and a great abundance of limbs. Its sting injects crippling toxins whose potency increases as they mature.

A centipede bauble is a bauble that temporarily changes your weapon into a assassin centipede shortblade.

Stalkers start with 3 centipede baubles.

When eVoked, a centipede bauble temporarily replaces your weapon with a Centipede shortblade, which lasts for 20-40 attacks before leaping from your hands and becoming an Assassin centipede ally. Using this bauble takes only 1 turn, and the weapon can be unwielded in one turn (which destroys it).

The Centipede weapon:

• Is a short blade with a base damage of 7, a base attack delay of 1.0, and a minimum attack delay of 0.5 at skill level 10
• It has reach of 1 like a base polearm, allowing stabs for fewer stealth checks
• Can poison targets. At higher Shapeshifting skill (beginning around skill level 9), it can also slow or paralyse foes
• Once the weapon becomes an ally, your original weapon is re-equipped instantly

Centipede has a minimum of 4 Shapeshifting skill, below which you are unable to use the bauble. Higher levels of Shapeshifting increase the chance to paralyse or slow and increase the weapon enchantment.

Strategy

Centipede can be an exceptional bauble for any character with shapeshifting in the range of 4-13+. For Stalkers, this weapon helps clear difficult fights in between early Gecko talisman use and getting Mist talisman online.

For any character with sufficient Shapeshifting skill, this bauble can force combat stabs through paralysis. At worst, after a few dozen attacks, the weapon will become a formidable ally capable of carrying most fights in Dungeon, Lair, and Orc.
