Profane servitor

From Ashenzari's Archive
Version 0.32: This article may not be up to date for the latest stable release of Crawl.
A blasphemous being that was once an angel of the Shining One. It now stands as unliving proof that not even the holiest of beings are beyond Yredelemnul's grasp.

“A spell was cast and the sky turned red
The angel's heart froze to ice
In the gloomy sky black clouds were gathering
The silence was broken by cries
A spell was cast and the sky turned red
The angel's heart froze to ice
In the gloomy sky — The silence where dead angels lie

Touch the snow... Caress the lifeless sculptures
Die!!!”
-Dissection, “Where Dead Angels Lie”. 1996.

Useful Info

Profane servitors are corrupted former angels of the Shining One who have fallen under the dark influence of Yredelemnul. Profane servitors are fast, resistant to most damage types, including holy damage, and have vampiric/draining attacks on top of whatever brand their demon whip has. Their umbra lowers your accuracy. Profane servitors are rare, occasionally encountered while wandering the Abyss or lower floors of the Crypt, but are more common in Tartarus.

Tips & Tricks

  • Worshippers of Yredelemnul are immune to the umbra's penalties. This includes monsters that worship Yredelemnul. Any halo effects will cancel out the umbra.
  • Although profane servitors are immune to holy damage, they are still vulnerable to dispel undead and deathbane.
  • Keep in mind that they aren't resistant to fire and acid damage.
