| A territorial gnarl of driftwood and shattered bones. Its resentment of the living has slowly twisted its remains into a monstrous form, capable of brandishing weapons and spreading terrible curses. |
Useful Info
Draugr are skeletal derived undead, which have grown gnarled wooden limbs that allow them to carry weapons. Compared to their living counterparts, Draugr gain a doom-causing attack in addition to the attacks the monster possessed during life.
- Dooming attack damage: 5 + 4*HD / 3, with a 20% damage penalty applied afterwards. Inflicts more doom with higher HD.
Draugr are found primarily in the Crypt and the Tomb, wandering in bands with Death Knights, or as part of undead-themed vaults as early as the mid-dungeon. They do not regenerate, cannot traverse stairs, and lose all spells and abilities. Vulnerable to Lee's Rapid Deconstruction.
Identifying Draugr
Different base monsters will create different draugr with differing stats, but Crawl tends to lump them all together, making identifying them at a glance difficult. Console mode will display draugr as either z or Z, depending on their size. Tiles mode provides different tiles for several different kinds of draugr, but there are still many different monsters that fall under each type. In any case, if you want to find out exactly what you'll be fighting, simply hit x and highlight the draugr in question.
Below are all the categories of draugr in tiles mode:
History
- Prior to 0.34, Draugr were skeleton (monster).
