The poison resistance is great in Spider's Nest, Snake Pit, and the Swamp, where poison is a major threat. It can occasionally be useful in other places. For instance, poison clouds can inflict rapid damage, even for a character in Zot. However, even if you have rPois from other sources, this armour can be good for the AC and low encumbrance.
Next in line are fire and ice dragon scales - these offer more AC, but heavier. Compared to these, swamp scales are lighter, but more notably, do not make you vulnerable to an element. Thus, these scales can be a viable choice to complete 3-rune game. Alternatively you may prefer a different armour, like a robe of the Archmagi, for its intrinsics.
