Armour Class	7
Encumbrance rating	7
Maximum Enchantment	+7
Grants	rPois
Time to Wear	5

The scales of a swamp dragon. It confers resistance to poison on its wearer.

Swamp dragon scales are a moderately light body armour that provides poison resistance.

This item has a 33% chance to to generate when you slay a swamp dragon.

Desirability

Swamp dragon scales are a light armour with relatively high AC, a direct upgrade to plain ring mails and scale mails. They are a good option for casters and EV-based characters.

The poison resistance is great in Spider's Nest, Snake Pit, and the Swamp, where poison is a major threat. It can occasionally be useful in other places, such as Zot. However, even if you already have rPois, this armour can be good for its defensive merit.

The next heaviest scales are fire and ice dragon scales. These offer more AC, but are significantly heavier than swamp dragon scales. In addition, both fire and ice scales make you vulnerable to the opposite element, while swamp offers no vulnerability. Overall, any of the three choices can be viable to complete a 3-rune game - which you should pick will vary from character to character.

History

Prior to 0.19, this item was known as swamp dragon armour, and were obtained by enchanting swamp dragon hide.

-Swamp dragon armour is an excellent body armour for use by low strength characters and casters, providing respectable and GDR with a manageable encumbrance rating of 7. It also provides poison resistance, rendering many early- and mid-game threats almost harmless.
+This item has a 33% chance to to generate when you slay a swamp dragon.
-Unfortunately, this armour is very rare. You can make your own swamp dragon armour by using a scroll of enchant armour on a swamp dragon hide, which you can acquire by butchering a swamp dragon corpse. If your particular game generated the Shoals instead of the Swamp, it is extremely unlikely that you'll be able to find any such dragons to slay.
