Version 0.34: This article is up to date for the latest stable release of Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup.
It conjures a barrage of shooting stars the first time its wearer spends MP to use a spell or ability each battle, recharging only when their MP is restored and no more enemies remain. Evocations skill increases the number and damage of the stars and MP spent further increases damage.

Stardust is an ego exclusive to orbs. After spending MP for any reason, it creates one plus one for each enemy in sight * shooting star projectiles. Evocations skill and the initial MP spent impact the damage. The ability can only be retriggered after spending time with full MP and no monsters in sight.

Shooting stars act like the Foxfire spell. Damage per star = 4d<[Evocations*3 + 10] * (1 + .25*MP)/9>.

Djinn do not use MP and thus do not benefit from this ego.

Strategy

God abilities also count towards this ego, so "pure" melee characters can benefit from this orb.
