*[[Poison resistance]] will make their spit nearly harmless.
*Naga warriors are strong, high HP brutes. Try to soften or kill them at range. If things get sketchy, remember that all nagas move slowly - you can walk away. Also remember that nagas [[constrict]], which prevents movement.
*They often wield heavy branded weapons which can deal gruesome damage in melee. Soften or kill them at range, even if means taking some spit.
*Much like [[orc knight]]s, their Battlecry greatly amplifies the melee damage of all other nagas and salamanders in the area. Take care not to fight more foes than you can manage.
*Early characters looking for an enchanted [[shield]] or [[large shield]] may have some luck investigating the first few floors of the Snake Pit and hunting naga warriors. They aren't guaranteed to have one, but if you have poison resistance and run from any brutal [[unique]]s you come across it may be worth attempting.
*Naga warriors often carry [[kite shield]]s and [[tower shield]]s. If you're looking for a shield, you may want to investigate the first floor of the Snake Pit.

*Prior to [[0.29]], naga warriors had 25% more HP.
*In [[0.28]], naga warriors were made more likely to get a "[[good item]]" shield.
*In [[0.27]], naga warriors got increased damage (28 -> 32) and [[Battlecry]]. Also, monster weapon penalties were removed, so all monsters attack faster with weapons.

Version 0.30: This article may not be up to date for the latest stable release of Crawl.

For a list of all nagas, see list of nagas.

A fearsome naga warrior clad in sturdy armour and wielding a mighty weapon.

“Amongst the deities and Asuras and celestial Rishis, O amiable lady, the Nagas are endued with great energy. Possessed of great speed, they are endued again with excellent fragrance. They deserve to be worshipped. They are capable of granting boons. Indeed, we too deserve to be followed by others in our train. I tell thee, O lady, that we are incapable of being seen by human beings.”
-Mahābhārata, Santi Parva, Mokshadharma Parva, section CCCLX. ca. 500 B.C.

  • Much like orc knights, their Battlecry greatly amplifies the melee damage of all other nagas and salamanders in the area. Take care not to fight more foes than you can manage.
  • Naga warriors often carry kite shields and tower shields. If you're looking for a shield, you may want to investigate the first floor of the Snake Pit.

History

  • Prior to 0.30, naga warriors dealt 32 base damage in melee, and had a bit more HP.
  • Prior to 0.29, naga warriors had 25% more HP.
  • In 0.28, naga warriors were made more likely to get a "good item" shield.
  • In 0.27, naga warriors got increased damage (28 -> 32) and Battlecry. Also, monster weapon penalties were removed, so all monsters attack faster with weapons.
