Traps (skill)

From Ashenzari's Archive
Obsolete: This article refers to an aspect of the game which has been removed. It is retained for historical reference only.

This article pertains to the obsolete Trap-finding skill. For the article on the types of traps you'll encounter while exploring the Dungeon, see Trap

Traps is the skill that lets you detect and disarm the many traps you'll come across in your exploration. To disarm a trap, hold CTRL while moving in the direction of the trap. Be aware that not all traps can be disarmed. Higher skill will give you a better chance of disarming traps and increases the odds of you detecting the trap in the first place. Most players will want to eventually train this skill up to around 10 to avoid the deadly Zot traps of the deeper floors.

Traps can always be trained. Ashenzari grants a bonus that increases the effectiveness of this skill.

History

  • In 0.13, this skill was removed. The chance to detect traps was changed to depend on your experience level: Effective Trap Skill = XL/3.
  • Prior to 0.12, there were hidden doors that could be found through use of this skill, which was formerly known as Traps & Doors.
