Faerie dragon scales

From Ashenzari's Archive
(Redirected from Faerie Dragon Scales)
Version 0.34: This article is up to date for the latest stable release of Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup.
An enchanted suit of armour created from the scales of a rare breed of dragon, now thought to be extinct. This prized relic is now one of the last proofs that the vividly coloured faerie dragons ever existed.

1d3 random properties, with a chance of Invisibility or a negative property as well.

These random properties are selected much like the properties on randart armour, though they are weighted toward being positive, and certain properties have adjusted likelihoods of occurring. The following properties are more likely to appear than average (10% chance of any given property being from this list):

Desirability

Faerie dragon scales[1] are a randomised artefact found only by killing the Enchantress. Its usefulness is entirely dependent on what the RNG decides to generate.

Don't overlook this armour until you've actually seen its properties. A set of +8 acid dragon scales with rF++, rElec, and Dex+10 is nothing to sneeze at. At the same time, heavy melee brutes will probably find this armour too light to wear.

History

  • Prior to 0.34 the range of the enchantment value was 0 - +8, HP modifier was -5 - +10 instead and MP modifier used to be +1 - +10 instead of both being +4 - +12. The boosted proprieties used to only have a 5% chance to be added instead of 10% and Invisibility was not part of them. It also used to not possess an Hexes enhancer.[2]
  • Prior to 0.19, faerie dragon scales were called faerie dragon armour and the item's base type was mottled dragon armour. Also, the HP bonus was -10 to +10 instead of -5 to +10.
